Avery McGoldrick, M.A., LPC-Associate (NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS)

Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, Supervised by Amanda Hood, M.A., LPC-S

For Avery, therapy begins with giving clients room to be themselves. Grounded in Person-Centered Therapy, she believes people are capable of developing greater insight and finding their own path forward when they have a relationship where they feel genuinely heard and accepted.

She provides counseling for children, teens, and adults, adapting sessions to both the client’s age and what brings them to therapy. Anxiety, depression, stress, identity development, self-esteem, emotional regulation, and major life changes are among the concerns she addresses. When desired by the client, faith and personal beliefs can also have a place in the therapeutic process.

Her work with children may look a little different. Through Child-Centered Play Therapy, Avery uses play as a developmentally appropriate way for children to express themselves, make sense of emotions, and communicate experiences they may not yet have the words to explain. With older clients, she can incorporate strategies from CBT and DBT while maintaining the person-centered foundation that guides her work.

Avery values connection, joy, and balance in her own life as well. Outside of the office, she enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and being with her family.
