Amanda Hood, M.A., Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor

Clinical Manager at Monarch Behavioral Health, PLLC

Amanda is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in Texas and has been practicing since 2013 providing therapy services. Amanda helps her clients feel more grounded and fulfilled in their everyday life when they are struggling with self-esteem, have difficulty managing their emotions, suffer from substance abuse, or are buried by past traumatic experiences.

Amanda encourages her clients to lean into their emotional discomfort so that they may be free from what holds them back from living their most fulfilled lives.

Amanda knows from her overcoming her own struggles that while it is difficult to lean into painful emotions, there is much relief and freedom to be found from working through these difficult situations. Amanda will be a positive and supportive person who will walk with you through your struggles, moving at your pace, and teaching tools for coping along the way.

Amanda believes that self-love, radical acceptance, and courage have the ability to change the world. That's why Amanda hopes you will be brave enough to take the first step in your healing journey so that she can help you shed the baggage you've been carrying and live your best, most authentic and fulfilling life.

Amanda is passionate about consistency in her beliefs and actions, especially when it comes to self-care. Amanda cannot emphasize enough how important it is to set aside time to re-charge. Some of the activities Amanda likes to do for self-care include baking, crafting, playing video games, and spending time with her spouse and 5 pets.

Some of Amanda's values as a clinician include:

Honesty: I really appreciate open and honest communication from my clients. I am always open to feedback and encourage my clients to share how they are feeling openly. It is important to me that my clients feel safe to be their authentic selves and share what's on their mind without a filter. In turn, I am also transparent with my clients about my thoughts, especially when something feels off.

Safety: My clients often tell me that I create a safe space for them to share about difficult topics. It is very important to me that my clients feel they have a safe place to be vulnerable without fear of judgement. Unconditional Positive Regard: I strive to see the best in people and it's important to me that my clients feel as though they are free from judgement no matter what they share. I have had several clients over the years give me feedback that they have shared things with me that they have not felt comfortable sharing with other therapists in the past. I believe that building safety in the therapeutic relationship starts with unconditional positive regard.

Humor: I am a big fan of not taking yourself too seriously. We talk about some heavy stuff in therapy and I find it helpful to find humor when appropriate.
