Building Healthy Eating Habits
Building healthy eating habits is more than just cutting out junk food and meal prepping. It’s actually a lot more mental work than you might think, but don’t let that deter you. Building healthier eating habits becomes easier as you go and is amazing for your mental health!
Eating slowly and mindfully will allow you to hear what your body is telling you. It takes about 20 minutes for your body to start sending your brain cue that it is full.
Listen to your body. If you are hungry, you should eat. Try adding healthy snacks like fruits and veggies in between meals if it's a struggle to make it through.
Planning meals ahead of time can help you to avoid binge eating or relying on take out.
Choosing fruits and vegetables more often than not is a huge game changer. Be sure to include them in every meal.
Pay attention to portion sizes. Here in the U.S especially, portion sizes are culturally much larger than needed.
