Creating Goals

With 2022 coming to a close, many of us are starting to think about our New Year’s resolutions and what we want our 2023 to look like. Because New Year  resolutions can come with their own set of anxieties, it’s important to take a step back and reflect on the year and make a plan for setting your goals.

Keep it simple:

  1. Reflect on the past year and start thinking about your life in the big picture. What change can you make in the next year that would upgrade your life?

  2. Once you’ve reflected and found your goal, dig in deep to find your ‘why’. This will be the backbone of your goal.

  3. Forgive past failure. You can’t do anything about that now. You did the best you could with the knowledge you had at the time. It’s okay to move forward.

  4. Create a detailed, metric aligned plan for yourself and break down the steps you believe it will take to achieve your goal.

  5. Set up a realistic timeline and reward system for yourself to help you stay motivated.

What part of goal setting do you struggle with the most and why do you think that is?
