It’s Borderline Personality Disorder Awareness Month. BPD is a widely misunderstood psychiatric disorder. Yet over 14 million people suffer from this disorder in the U.S only. It’s important to know that the suisude rate in those with BPD far exceeds that of the general population and that the disorder is more common than both Bipolar disorder and Schizophrenia combined. Common Symptoms of BPD include but are not limited to:

  • Emotional instability and mood swings

  • Distorted self-image and low self-esteem

  • Impulsive and risky behaviors, including substance misuse and reckless driving

  • Self harm and suicidal thoughts

  • Difficulties maintaining healthy relationships

  • Intense fear of abandonment
