Tips for Avoid Nagging

Nagging can be a tricky habit to quit. It can be frustrating when tasks aren’t completed in the way or time frame that you would like.

Use these tips to help tone down the nagging.

  1. Accept that this is a stage that your child will outgrow.  These little acts of disobedience actually mean that they are on track developmentally.

  2. Keep your cool. Before saying anything out of anger or frustration, take a deep breath.

  3. Make it easy to say yes by offering two options rather than asking a yes or no question.

  4. Be firm and consistent

  5. Once the request has been completed, be sure to reinforce that positive behavior with appreciation.
