What is a Trigger?

Even though it may sometimes feel like PTSD symptoms come from randomly or out of the blue,  PTSD symptoms rarely spontaneously occur.

PTSD triggers may be all around you. Being mindful, and recognizing what seems to be triggering, is a great way to start your healing process.

Deep breathing, mindfulness exercises, and progressive muscle relaxation (which focuses on alternating between tensing and relaxing different muscle groups throughout the body) are some calming techniques that can help a person cope with PTSD related anxiety.
