What is Radical Acceptance?

Sometimes we run into problems that we simply cannot control. While it can be easy to get stuck on feeling like it’s not fair or that it shouldn’t be something you have to deal with, there is a healthier way to manage your emotions.

Distress tolerance skills like radical acceptance can lead us to be less angry, anxious, and even sad when dealing with a situation. For example, if you find out that you were not selected for a job that you were really hoping to get, you may feel disappointed for a moment. However, it’s best not to let those feelings linger. Know that while it may be frustrating that you didn’t get the job, it’s okay to accept that they felt someone else would be a better fit.
