What is Sand Tray Therapy ?

Have you heard about Sand Tray Therapy? If not, it’s possible that you’ve seen scenes in movies or television that show Sand Tray Therapy is action.

Sand Tray Therapy is a therapy that allows a person to express what they are feeling in the moment without necessarily being overly vocal, or vocal at all for that matter. When in therapy, there is an expectation, or a hope at the very least for a person to open up emotionally. This can be difficult for many, especially those who have experienced trauma.

Sandplay therapists will focus on the unconscious and provide the individual a judgment- free, protected space as well as the opportunity to communicate nonverbally.

It’s important to know that Sandplay therapists do not interpret, interfere with, or direct the person in any way, and analysis takes place after the session.
