Games to play at the dinner table…

Have trouble keeping up conversation at the dinner table (or any table time for that matter..) Here are some suggestions by Dr. Anne Fishel of The Family Dinner Project⠀
.⠀
.⠀
two truths & a tall tale ➡️ everyone says three things about themselves, two true and one make up, and the rest of the table guesses which one is a tall tale
.⠀
.⠀
would you rather? ➡️ take turns asking questions like:"would you rather be a tiger or a mouse?" "would you rather speak every language or be the best artist in the world?"⠀
.⠀
.⠀
20 Questions ➡️ think of a family memory and everyone asks a question to figure out which memory you are referring to.⠀
.⠀
.⠀
Guess that emotion ➡️ take turns & plan ahead. all but one family member will know what the emotion is chosen (happy, sad, excited) - the family members that know the emotion all eat their meal & acting with that feeling in mind, the family member that doesn't know the emotion has to guess what it is.⠀
.⠀
.⠀

Get to know your family/person/child/partner better and allow them to know you better. Be creative, enjoy meal time & maybe use some of these conversation starters/games at the upcoming holidays.⠀
.⠀
.⠀
If you are having trouble connecting with others or even yourself, therapy can be a helpful guide to move forward with connections.
